About KSOGA

The Karnataka State Obstetric and Gynaecological Association (KSOGA) was established in the year 1986, born out of a vision to unify, empower, and elevate the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology across Karnataka. The founding leadership consisted of two legendary figures— Dr. Padma Rao, Professor Emeritus at KMC Manipal, who served as the first President, and Dr. M.G. Hiremath, who laid the foundation as the first Secretary. Their foresight and dedication to women’s health have been instrumental in shaping the organization’s journey.

Since its inception, KSOGA has grown from a modest idea into a thriving association of professionals. Over the decades, the organization has remained committed to fostering excellence, collaboration, and compassion in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Today, in 2025, KSOGA stands tall as a symbol of academic strength, clinical expertise, and social commitment.

KSOGA now proudly comprises 24 affiliated societies and 12 active committees spread across the state of Karnataka. We have a robust membership base of more than 3500 Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, all of whom actively contribute to the mission and vision of the association. These members are not just confined to clinical practice—they are enthusiastic participants in public awareness programs, community health initiatives, social outreach campaigns, and charitable activities.

One of our primary objectives is to provide a professional forum that fosters interaction, dialogue, and mutual learning among practitioners of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. We believe that collaboration is the cornerstone of progress, and we actively facilitate opportunities for our members to connect, share knowledge, and support one another.

KSOGA plays a pivotal role inpromoting the welfare of all its members—professionally, socially, and legally. Especially during times of crisis, such as instances of violence against doctors, KSOGA stands firmly with its members and takes appropriate legal action depending on the situation. We advocate for safe, respectful, and secure working conditions for all healthcare professionals.

Academic advancement is at the heart of KSOGA’s mission. We are committed to maintaining and improving the standards of medical education, ensuring that teaching remains evidence-based, dynamic, and patient-centric. Through various conferences, workshops, and research projects, we aim to keep our members abreast of global advancements.

Our association also undertakes initiatives to promote and publish knowledge through Journals, bulletins, blogs, and e-Journals that capture the evolving science and art of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. These platforms serve as important channels for research dissemination, innovation, and continuous learning.

Beyond academic and clinical pursuits, KSOGA strives to build a sense of fellowship and camaraderie among its members. Through networking events, mentorship programs, and member support systems, we nurture a community that values empathy, respect, and mutual upliftment.

We have a strong commitment toMaternal and Child Welfare , and our programs in Family Planning and reproductive health education continue to make a meaningful impact in both rural and urban Karnataka. We also collaborate with other medical and non-medical bodies to enhance community-level health awareness.

KSOGA’s broad mandate allows us to carry out various activities that serve the interests of our members and society at large. We also pursue initiatives that may not fall directly under clinical practice but are essential for professional growth, public welfare, and the advancement of allied sciences.

As a registered society, KSOGA is empowered to acquire, maintain, and develop property and infrastructure that supports our activities. We are guided by our managing committee in making decisions regarding the acquisition of furniture, books, equipment, and other essentials that aid our functioning and service delivery.

We also remain open to strategic partnerships and collaborations that align with our mission. Whether it’s with government bodies, non-profit organizations, or academic institutions, KSOGA believes in the power of collective effort for a healthier tomorrow.

Our vision includes the development of a state-of-the-art digital presence, and today marks a new milestone with the launch of our redesigned website. This new platform will serve as a central hub for information, education, registration, and engagement for our members and the public.

In an era where digital outreach is vital, this website reflects our commitment to modernization, transparency, and accessibility. It is a portal not just for information but for interaction, innovation, and inspiration.

As we celebrate nearly four decades of excellence, we look to the future with optimism and determination. KSOGA will continue to stand as a pillar of academic rigor, ethical practice, and social responsibility in the field of women’s healthcare.

We welcome new members, collaborators, and supporters to join us in this mission. Together, let us continue the legacy of our founders and elevate the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Karnataka to even greater heights.

KSOGA is not just an association—it is a movement driven by passion, purpose, and professionalism.
